For the site,
simplicity in transliteration has been the criteria. As such, complex
(though more accurate) diacritic marks to distinguish certain Arabic
letters have not been employed here, resulting in some repetition of
letters used in English while in the Arabic they would be distinct,
e.g. محمد being rendered as Muhammad instead of Muḥammad.
Arabic letters and the English letters used in transliteration for the site for non-ad`iyya/adhkar (less literal, less strict, and easier to read for English) such as in the isnads. أ – a/u/i ب – b ت – t ث – th ج – j ح – h خ – kh د - d ذ – dh ر – r ز – z س – s ش - sh ص – s ض – d ط – t ظ – zh ع - ` (backtick/grave accent) غ – gh ف – f ق – q ك – k ل – l م – m ن - n ﻫ - h و – w ي - y Hamza is not always indicated, more so when it is mutaharrik and occurs | For ad`iyya/adhkaar (e.g. what to recite in the salat, etc.) a stricter, more literal form of transliteration is to be employed: أ – a/u/i. Long vowels that are pronounced are indicated as aa, oo, and ee. ب – b ت – t ث – th ج – j ح – H خ – kh د - d ذ – dh ر – r ز – z س – s ش - sh ص – S ض – D ط – T ظ – Z ع - ` (backtick/grave accent) غ – gh ف – f ق – q ك – k ل – l م – m ن - n ﻫ - h و – w ي - y In the above form, names such as Allaah and MuHammad are stillcapitalized out of respect, but this does not alter their pronunciation. |
