Someone who the morning has reached as a junub

7396 – Maʿmar from al-Zuhrī from Abū Bakr b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. al-Ḥārith b. Hishām.  He said: I heard Abū Hurayra saying: The Messenger of God صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: Someone who the morning reaches as a junub there is no fast for him.

He said: I and my father set out and we entered upon ʿĀ’isha and Umm Salama, and we asked them about that.  So they reported to us that the Messenger of God صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ would enter morning as a junub without it being from a wet dream, then he would fast.

He said: Then we entered upon Marwān and reported their saying to him, and the saying of Abū Hurayra.  So he said: I have resolved for you to go to Abū Hurayra and report to him their saying.

He said: So we met Abū Hurayra as the gate of the masjid and my father said to him: The commander has resolved for us regarding an affair to mention it to you.

He said: And what is it?

He said: So my father narrated it to him.

He said: So the face of Abū Hurayra changed color, then he said: Thus did al-Faḍl b. al-ʿAbbās narrated to us, and he knows best.

al-Zuhrī said: So he shifted the ḥadīth to other than him.

7397 – Ibn Jurayj said: Ibn Shihāb narrated to me from Abū Bakr b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father from Umm Salama and ʿĀ’isha that dawn (al-fajr) would reach the Prophet صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ while he was junub, then he would do ghusl and fast.

7398 – Ibn Jurayj said: ʿAbd al-Malik b. Abī Bakr b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān reported to me from his father.  He said: I heard Abū Hurayra saying in his narratives: Someone who dawn has reached as a junub there is no fast for him.  Then he mentioned the ḥadīth of Maʿmar from al-Zuhrī.

7399 – Ibn Jurayj said: ʿAmr b. Dīnār reported to me that Yaḥyā b. Jaʿda reported to him from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. ʿAbd al-Qārī that he heard Abū Hurayra saying: By the Lord of this House, someone who the morning reaches as a junub he is to break his fast, but Muḥammad صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said.

7400 – Ibn Jurayj said: I said to ʿAṭā: Does the man spend the night as a junub in the month of Ramaḍān until he enters morning, intentionally doing that, then fast?

He said: As to Abū Hurayra he would prohibit that.  And as to ʿĀ’isha she would say: There is no harm with that.  So when they disagreed upon ʿAṭā, he said: One completes that day of his, and he replaces a day.

7401 – Maʿmar from Ayyūb from Ibn Sīrīn that Ibn Masʿūd said: I do not care whether I have intercourse with my woman, then enter morning as a junub, then fast.  I have arrived lawfully.

7402 – al-Thawrī from Jāmiʿ b. Rāshid from Abū Rāshid.  He said: ʿAbdullāh b. Mirdās narrated to me.  He said: A man came from the neighborhood, and he said: Indeed I passed by my woman in the moon and she appealed to me.  So I had intercourse with her in the month of Ramaḍān, and I slept until I entered morning.

So I said: Betake you to ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd or to Abū Ḥakīm al-Muzanī.

So he came to ʿAbdullāh and asked him, and he said: If you were junub, the prayer not being lawful to you, then do ghusl and the prayer will be lawful to you.  And the fast will be lawful to you, so fast.

7403 – Maʿmar reported to me from Ayyūb from Abū Qilāba.  He said: A man came to Abū al-Dardā, and he said: I had intercourse with my wife, then my eye overcame me (in sleep) until I entered morning, while I wanted to fast.

So Abū al-Dardā said: You had intercourse with your wife while she is lawful to you, then you were overcome upon your soul, then God returned your soul, so you prayed when you apprehended, and you fasted when you apprehended.

7404 – ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar from Nāfiʿ.  He said: Were the mu’adhdhan to have called the adhān while a servant of God is between the legs of his wife and he wants to fast, he is to complete his fast.

7405 – Ibn ʿUyayna from Hishām b. ʿUrwa from his father.  He said: Someone who the morning reaches as a junub, and he intentionally did that, he replaces the fast.  And someone who that came to without it being intentional, he does not replace it.
