The man having intercourse with his wife in other than her vulva

971- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْن عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الرَّجُلِ يُجَامِعُ امْرَأَتَهُ فِي غَيْرِ الْفَرْجِ فَيُنْزِلُ الْمَاءَ قَالَ‏:‏ يَغْتَسِلُ هُوَ وَلاَ تَغْتَسِلُ هِيَ، وَلَكِنْ تَغْسِلُ مَا أَصَابَ مِنْهَا‏.‏


971 – al-Thawrī from al-Zubayr b. ʿAdī from Ibrāhīm regarding the man having intercourse with his wife in other than the vulva and ejaculating semen (lit. the water).

He said: He does ghusl and she does not do ghusl, rather she washes what he contacted of her.


972- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَعَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَسْتَيِقِظُ فَيَجِدُ الْبِلَّةَ‏؟‏ قَالاَ‏:‏ يَغْسِلُ فَرْجَهُ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ‏.‏ قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ‏:‏ وَأَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ شَرُّوسَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ يَقُولُ‏:‏ يَغْتَسِلُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ الشَّكُّ‏.‏


972 – Maʿmar from Qatāda and from a man from al-Ḥasan regarding the man who wakes up and find wetness.

They said: He washes his genital and does wuḍū.

Maʿmar said: And Ismāʿīl b. Sharrūs reported to me from ʿIkrima saying: He does ghusl so that the doubt goes away.


973- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الأَشْعَثِ، قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ يَغْتَسِلُ‏.‏


973 – al-Thawrī from al-Ashʿath.  He said: I heard ʿIkrima from Ibn ʿAbbās.  He said: He does ghusl.


974- عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، سَمِعْتُهُ، أَوْ أَخْبَرْتُهُ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ‏:‏ إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ الرَّجُلُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَوَجَدَ بَلَلاً وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ احْتِلاَمًا فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ، فَإِنْ رَأَى أَنَّهُ احْتَلَمَ وَلَمْ يَجِدْ بَلَلاً فَلاَ غُسْلَ عَلَيْهِ‏.‏


974 – ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar: I heard him, or I informed him, from his brother ʿUbaydullāh from al-Qāsim b. Muḥammad from ʿĀ’isha that the Prophet صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said: When the man has woken from the night and found wetness and did not remember a wet dream, he is to do ghusl.  If he regarded that he had a wet dream and did not find wetness then there is no ghusl upon him.


975- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ‏:‏ لاَ يُعْقَدُ ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَتَعَرَّضُ‏.‏


975 – al-Thawrī from Manṣūr from Ibrāhīm.  He said: That is not obliged because Shayṭān presents himself.
