Urinating in the place of bathing

978 – Maʿmar said: al-Ashʿath reported to me from al-Ḥasan from ʿAbdullāh b. Mughaffal.  He said: The Messenger of God صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said: None of you are to urinate in his mustaḥamm (a place one washes oneself with hot water), for most of the waswās comes from it.

979 – al-Thawrī from someone who heard Anas saying: Urinating in the place of bathing (al-mughtasal) takes a minor sin (or: minor insanity) from one. (translation unclear)

980 – al-Thawrī from ʿAlqama b. Marthad from Sulayman b. Burayda from ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn.  He said: One who urinated in his place of bathing has not purified himself.

981 – Ibn Jurayj said: I said to ʿAṭā: Do you dislike urinating in the place of bathing?

He said: No, and I urinate in it.  If the place of bathing is in a lowland (or: valley) I dislike urinating in it.  So as to these buildings, nothing settles in it so I don’t care whether I urinate in it.  And he alleged he would urinate in it.

982 – Ibn al-Taymī from Layth from ʿAṭā from ʿĀ’isha.  She said: God has not purified a man who urinates in his place of bathing.

Layth said: ʿAṭā said: When it has an outlet there is no harm with it.
