The wuḍū of men and women together

244 – Ibn Jurayj said: There is no harm with men and women doing wuḍū together, they are only your (full) sisters, your (half or figurative) sisters, your daughters, and your mothers.

245 – Ibn Jurayj from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar.  He said: We used to do wuḍū, us and the women together.

246 – Isrā’īl b. Yūnus from Simāk b. Ḥarb from Abū Salāma al-Ḥabībī.  He said: I saw ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb come to some pools upon which where men and women doing wuḍū together, so he struck them with the scourge.  Then he said to the owner of the pool: Make a pool for the men and a pool for the women.  Then he met ʿAlī and said: What do you regard?  So he said: I regard that you are only a shepherd.  So if you strike them upon other than that, you will have been destroyed and you will have destroyed.
