The water which the junub touches or enters

303 – Ibn Jurayj reported to us from Sulaymān b. Mūsā from a man.  He said: I asked Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh about stagnant water, do I do ghusl in it while the junub has entered it?  He said: No, however scoop up from it with a scooping.

304 – Maʿmar from a man from the people of Kufa that Ibn ʿAbbās said: If janāba has afflicted you and you have passed by a brook, then scoop up from it with scooping and pour it upon you.  And if it flows in it then do not mind and do not enter in it if you are able to.

305 – Maʿmar from Jābir from al-Shaʿbī regarding the man who janāba afflicts, so he passes by the well and he does not have a bucket with him.  He said: If he did not find (any means) but to insert his hand in it, then he is to insert.

Maʿmar said: And I heard someone saying: He wets the end of his garment, then wrings it upon his hands and washes his hands.

Maʿmar said: Were he to do tayammum then insert his hand it would be preferable to me.

306 – Maʿmar from Qatāda regarding a man who forgot so he inserted his hand in the water in which he is doing ghusl while he is junub prior to washing them.  He said: Wretched is what he has done, and he does ghusl with it.

307 – Maʿmar said: Someone reported to me who heard al-Ḥasan saying: It is discarded and one does not do wuḍū (with it) or ghusl.

308 – Ibn Jurayj said: I asked ʿAṭā about the junub forgetting and so inserting his hand in the vessel in which is his ghusl water prior to washing his hands.  He said: When he has forgotten then there is no harm, and he is to wash his hands.

309 – al-Thawrī from Jābir from al-Shaʿbī from Ibn ʿAbbās.  He said: There is no janāba upon the garment, and no janāba upon the ground, and no janāba upon the man who the junub touches, and there is no janāba upon the water.  He is saying: When one’s hands have preceded him and he inserted them in the water while he is junub prior to washing them there is no harm.

310 – Maʿmar from Jābir from al-Shaʿbī.  He said: The companions of the Messenger of God صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ would insert their hands in the water while they were junub, and the woman while they were menstruating, and that did not corrupt them.

311 – Maʿmar said: I asked al-Zuhrī about a man doing ghusl from janāba, so it sprinkles in the vessel from his skin.  So he said: There is no harm with it.
