The remaining drink of the menstruating woman

388- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ‏:‏ كُنْتُ أَشْرَبُ فِي الإِنَاءِ، وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ، فَيَأْخُذُهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَضَعُ فَاهُ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ فِيَّ فَيَشْرَبُ، وَكُنْتُ آخُذُ الْعَرْقَ، فَأَنْتَهِشُ مِنْهُ، فَيَأْخُذُهُ مِنِّي، ثُمَّ يَضَعُ فَاهُ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ فِيَّ، فَيَنْتَهِشُ مِنْهُ‏.‏


388 – al-Thawrī from Miqdām b. Shurayḥ b. Hānī from his father from ʿĀ’isha.  She said: I used to drink from a vessel while I was menstruating, and the Prophet الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم would take it and put his mouth on the place of my mouth and drink.  And I would take the ʿarq (a bone which the flesh has been bitten off but with some flesh remaining) and I would take from it with my mouth, so he would take it from me then put his mouth on the place of my mouth, and he would take from it with his mouth.


389- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ سَأَلْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ، عَنْ سُؤْرِ الْحَائِضِ، وَالْجُنُبِ فَلَمْ يَرَ بِهِ بَأْسًا‏.‏


389 – Maʿmar said: I asked al-Zuhrī about the remaining drink of the menstruating woman and the junub, and he did not regard for there to be any harm with it.


390- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ‏:‏ لاَ بَأْسَ بِسُؤْرِ الْحَائِضِ، وَالْجُنُبِ فَلَمْ يَرَ بِهِ بَأْسًا وُضُوءًا، أَوْ شَرَابًا‏.‏


330 – Maʿmar from Jābir from al-Shaʿbī.  He said: There is no harm with the remaining drink of the menstruating woman and the junub.  So he did not regard for there to be any harm with it (to be used for) a wuḍū or a drink.


391- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ‏:‏ لاَ بَأْسَ بِسُؤْرِ الْحَائِضِ أَنْ يَشْرَبَهُ، وَأَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهُ‏.‏


391 – Maʿmar from Qatāda from al-Ḥasan.  He said: There is no harm with drinking the remaining drink of the menstruating woman, and doing wuḍū from it.


392- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ سُؤْرَ الْجُنُبِ وَوُضُوءَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ، وَكَانَ لاَ يَرَى بَأْسًا أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ بِفَضْلِ الْحَائِضِ، وَيَكْرَهُ فَضْلَ شَرَابِهَا‏.‏


392 – al-Thawrī from Mughīra from Ibrāhīm.  He used to dislike the remaining drink of the junub and his wuḍū and his drink.  And he did not regard there to be any harm with doing wuḍū with the leftover of the menstruating woman, and he disliked the leftover of her drink.


393- عَنِ ابْنِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ‏.‏


393 – Ibn al-Taymī from his father from al-Ḥasan like the ḥadīth of Maʿmar from Qatāda from al-Ḥasan.


394- عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ فَضْلَ الْحَائِضِ وَالْجُنُبِ‏.‏


394 – Mālik from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar that he used to dislike the leftover of the menstruating woman and the junub.


395- عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ لاَ بَأْسَ بِفَضْلِ الْمَرْأَةِ حَائِضًا كَانَتْ، أَوْ غَيْرَ حَائِضٍ‏.‏


395 – Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad from ʿAbbās b. ʿAbdullāh b. Maʿbad from ʿIkrima from Ibn ʿAbbās.  He said: There is no harm with the leftover of the woman, menstruating or not menstruating.


396- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَحَمَّتْ مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ فَضْلِهَا فَقَالَتْ‏:‏ إِنِّي اغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ‏:‏ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لاَ يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ‏.‏


396 – al-Thawrī from Simāk b. Ḥarb from ʿIkrima from Ibn ʿAbbās that a woman from the women of the Prophet صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ bathed from janāba, and the Prophet صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ came and did wuḍū from leftover.  So she said: I did ghusl from it.  So he said: Nothing renders water impure.


397- عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ،‏.‏‏.‏‏.‏، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، مِثْلَهُ‏.‏


397 – Isrā’īl … from ʿIkrima from Ibn ʿAbbās likewise.


398- عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ‏:‏ سُئِلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ الْحَائِضِ تُنَاوِلُ الرَّجُلَ وَضُوءًا، فَتُدْخِلُ يَدَهَا فِيهِ قَالَ‏:‏ إِنَّ حَيْضَتَهَا لَيْسَتْ فِي يَدِهَا‏.‏


398 – Hishām b. Ḥassān from al-Ḥasan.  He said: ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb was asked about the menstruating woman handing the man some wuḍū water, so she insert her hand in it.  He said: Indeed her menses is not in her hand.


399- عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ‏:‏ هَلْ يَتَوَضَّأُ الْجُنُبُ بِفَضْلِ وَضُوءِ الْجُنُبِ، وَالرَّجُلُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ يَتَوَضَّأُ أَحَدُهُمَا بِفَضْلِ الآخَرِ جُنُبَيْنِ‏؟‏ قَالَ‏:‏ أَمَّا لِصَلاَةٍ فَلاَ، وَلَكِنَّ الطَّعَامَ وَالشَّرَابَ وَالنَّوْمَ قَالَ‏:‏ لاَ يُنْتَفَعُ بِفَضْلِ وَضُوءِ الْجُنُبِ لِلصَّلاَةِ قُلْتُ‏:‏ وَالْحَائِضُ بِمَنْزِلَتِهِمَا‏؟‏ قَالَ‏:‏ نَعَمْ‏.‏


399 – Ibn Jurayj said: I said to ʿAṭā: Does the junub do wudu with the leftover of the wuḍū of the junub, and the man and the woman one of them doing wuḍū with the leftover of the other when they are junub?  He said: As to for prayer, then no, rather food, drink and sleep.  He said: The leftover of the wuḍū of the junub is not made use of for prayer.  I said: And the menstruating woman has their status?  He said: Yes.


400- عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ‏:‏ كُنَّا نَغْتَسِلُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْنُ وَنِسَاؤُنَا مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ‏.‏


400 – ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar.  He said: We used to do ghusl in the time of the Messenger of God صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, us and our women from a single vessel.


401- عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ قَالَ عَطَاءٌ‏:‏ لاَ بَأْسَ أَنْ تَمْتَشِطَ الْمَرْأَةُ الطَّاهِرُ بِفَضْلِ الْجُنُبِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وَيُخْتَضَبَ بِفَضْلِهَا يَأْكُلُ أَحَدُهُمَا وَيَشْرَبُ مِنْ فَضْلِ الآخَرِ‏.‏


401 – Ibn Jurayj said: ʿAṭā said: There is no harm with the pure woman combing her hair with the leftover of the junub from janāba and dyeing herself with her leftover, and one of them eating and drinking from the leftover of the other.


402- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ‏:‏ لاَ بَأْسَ أَنْ تَمْتَشِطَ الْمَرْأَةُ الطَّاهِرُ بِفَضْلِ الْحَائِضِ‏.‏


402 – Maʿmar from al-Zuhrī and from Jābir from al-Shaʿbī.  He said: There is no harm with the pure woman combing her hair with the leftover of the menstruating woman.


403- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، مِثْلَهُ‏.‏


403 – Maʿmar from Jābir from al-Shaʿbī likewise.
