Trimming the mustache and clipping the nails

462- عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ‏:‏ قَصُّ الشَّارِبِ، وَتَقْلِيمُ الأَظْفَارِ، أَمِنْهُ وُضُوءٌ‏؟‏ قَالَ‏:‏ لاَ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَمَسَّ بِالْمَاءِ حَيْثُ قَلَّمَ وَقَصَّ‏.‏


462 – Ibn Jurayj said: I said to ʿAṭā: Trimming the mustache and clipping the nails, is there a wuḍū from it?  

He said: No, rather one is to wipe with water where one has clipped and trimmed.


463- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ‏:‏ إِذَا أَخَذَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ، أَوْ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ شَيْئًا أَمَرَّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ‏.‏


463 – al-Thawrī from Ḥammād from Ibrāhīm.  He said: When a man cuts something from his nails or from his hair, he wipes water upon it.


464- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ‏:‏ يَمْسَحُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ‏.‏


464 – Maʿmar from a man from al-Ḥakam b. ʿUtba.  He said: He wipes water upon it.


465- عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ قَالَ‏:‏ قَدِ انْتَقَضَ وُضُوؤُهُ‏.‏


465 – Maʿmar from Ḥammād.  He said: He has broken his wuḍū.


466- عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي الَّذِي يَأْخُذُ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ وَشَعْرِهِ، لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ‏.‏


466 – Hishām from al-Ḥasan regarding the one who trims his nails or his hair, that there is nothing upon him.


467- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ‏:‏ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ‏.‏


467 – al-Thawrī from Yūnus from al-Ḥasan.  He said: There is nothing upon him.


468- عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ‏:‏ هُوَ طَهُورٌ‏.‏


468 – al-Thawrī from Jābir from al-Shaʿbī.  He said: It is a purifier.
