Someone who forgot the wiping upon the head

40 – Maʿmar from Ayyūb from Ibn Sīrīn.  He was asked about a man who forgot to wipe his head until he prayed.  He said: If he wants he repeats the wuḍū and the prayer.

41 – Ibn Jurayj from ʿAṭā.  He said: If you forgot the wiping of the head and you prayed, then you remembered, so wipe your head and repeat the prayer.  He said: And it has reached me from him – and I do not know if I had heard him saying: If there is wetness in your beard then wipe from it.

42 – Maʿmar from ʿAmr from al-Ḥasan regarding someone who forgot the wiping of the head in the wuḍū.  He said: If there is wetness in his beard then he is only to wipe his head and to repeat the prayer.

43 – al-Thawrī said: If someone forgot the wiping he wipes and repeats the prayer but does not repeat the wuḍū.  And if he forgot the wiping and rain hit his head then it suffices him and it is a purification.

44 – Maʿmar from Qatāda regarding a man who forgot to do the nose-rinsing or wiping his ears or to do the mouth-rinsing until he entered in the prayer then he remembered, and he does not depart (i.e. end his prayer) due to that.  He said: If he had forgotten to wipe his head and he remembered while he is in prayer, so he (is to) depart and wipe his head.

45 – Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad from Dāwud b. al-Ḥuṣayn from ʿIkrima from Ibn ʿAbbās.  He said: If someone forgot the wiping of the head he repeats the prayer.

46 – al-Thawrī regarding a man who forgot the wiping of his head, then he stood and did takbīr in the prayer.  So he laughed.  He said: He departs and wipes his head and does not repeat the wuḍū for it would not have been his prayer without a complete wuḍū.
