The nosebleed

572 – Ibn Jurayj from ʿAṭā.  He said: One does wuḍū from the nosebleed when it has appeared and flowed, from whatever is a little or a lot.

573 – Ibn Jurayj said: I said to ʿAṭā: A man who the nosebleed took and it did not cease to flow from him until the prayer was close to elapsing, how does he act?

He said: He plugs his nostril and stands and prays, even if he feared it would enter.

I said: When the blood falls in his stomach?

He said: It does not fall in his stomach, and there is no way out from the prayer, even if it falls in his stomach.

574 – Maʿmar from Qatāda.  He said: When the person has a nosebleed that has not been cleared away, then he plugs his nostril and prays. And even if he fears that it will enter his stomach he prays.  And if even it flows, then ʿUmar had prayed while his wound was streaming blood.

575 – Maʿmar said: And it has reached me from Ibn al-Musayyib (that) he said: When one cannot restrain his nosebleed he gestures with a gesture.

576 – Maʿmar from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr from ʿIkrima.  He said: If one cannot restrain (it) in the prayer he stuffs it.

577 – Ibn Jurayj said: I said to ʿAṭā: I forgot the blood in my mouth while I am in prayer, and it did not come out.  Do I depart (from my prayer)?

He said: No.

I said: So I forgot it the nostril prior to the prayer and did not flow.  Do I rinse my nose?

He said: If you want.  And he prohibited touching the nose in the prayer.
