He said: No.

He said: I did wuḍū from bulls’ aqiṭ (a food made of milk) that I ate.

Ibn ʿAbbās said: I don’t care what you did wuḍū from, I testify that I saw the Messenger of God صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ eat a shoulder of meat, then he rose to the prayer and he did not do wuḍū.

647 – Ibn Jurayj said: ʿAṭā reported to me that he heard Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh saying: Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ate a shoulder of meat or a leg, then he rose and prayed for us and he had not done wuḍū.

ʿAṭā said: And I think that Jābir said: And he had not rinsed his mouth and had not washed his hand.

He said: I think that he said: He wiped his hand.

650 – Maʿmar from Ḥammād from Ibrāhīm from ʿAlqama.  He said: He brought us a jafna (a large food bowl) while we were with Ibn Masʿūd, and he commanded us to it.  So it was placed in the road and he ate from it and we ate with him.  He set about inviting whoever passed by him, then we went on to the prayer.  He did not do more than washing the tips of his fingers and rinsing his mouth, then he prayed.

653 – Ibn Jurayj said: ʿAṭā reported to me that he heard Ibn ʿAbbās saying: The fire is only a blessing of God, and it does not make anything lawful or make it forbidden.  And there is no wuḍū from what the fire has touched, and no wuḍū from what has entered a person.  The wuḍū is only from what goes out from the person.

And as to his saying “It does not make anything lawful”, it is due to their saying “When the fire has touched the ṭalā (boiled wine) it has become lawful”.  And his saying “It does not make it forbidden” is due to their saying “Wuḍū is from what the fire has touched.”

ʿAṭā said: And I heard Ibn ʿAbbās saying to a person who was asking him about that: So if you have wuḍū from what the fire touched, then what about the fact that one does ghusl with heated water?  And he did not regard there to be harm with the ghusl with heated water and doing wuḍū with it.  And fire has touched the ointments yet one does not do wuḍū from it.
