Running (the water) through the digits in the wuḍū

Translator’s note: al-aṣābiʿ has been translated here as “digits” as it can mean the fingers or the toes.  Running the water through them refers to takhlīl, when one runs the water by their fingers through the fingers of the other hand, or the toes of the feet.

84 – Yaḥyā b. Sulaym narrated to us from Ismāʿīl b. Kathīr from ʿĀṣim b. Laqīṭ b. Ṣabara from his father.  He said: I said to the Messenger of God, inform me about the wuḍū.

He said: And he was pouring the water upon them.  So I said to him: O Abū Muḥammad, why are you doing this?

So he said: I saw ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar doing it.
