54-55

{ وَمَكَرُواْ وَمَكَرَ ٱللَّهُ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَاكِرِينَ } * { إِذْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ يٰعِيسَىٰ إِنِّي مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَيَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَجَاعِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوكَ فَوْقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَامَةِ ثُمَّ إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ فِيمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ }

(54) And they plotted and God plotted, and God is the best of those who plot (55) When God said to Jesus I will cause you to die and raise you to Me and purify you from those who disbelieved and make those who follow you above those who have disbelieved until the Day of Resurrection then unto Me will be your return and I will decide between you in what you were differing in.

And they plotted and God plotted” And that is that the unbelievers of the Children of Israel betook to a man, and they made him a watcher over Jesus so that they might kill him.  God made the resemblance of Jesus be upon the watcher, so they took the watcher and they killed and crucified him.  They assumed that he was Jesus, and God عز وجل raised Jesus to the heaven of this world from Jerusalem on the Night of Qadr in Ramaḍān.  So that is His سبحانه saying “they plotted” by Jesus to kill him, meaning the Jews “and God plotted” by them when they killed their watcher and companion

When God said to Jesus I will you cause to die and raise you to Me” in it is a bringing forward.  He is saying: I am raising you to Me from this world, and I will cause you to die when you descend from Heaven in the time of the Dajjāl (the Antichrist).  He is saying: I am raising you to Me now and causing you to die after the killing of the Dajjāl.  He is saying: Raising you unto Me in Heaven “and purify you from those who disbelieved” meaning the Jews and other than them “and make those who follow you” upon your religion O Jesus, and it is Islam “above those who disbelieve” meaning the Jews and other than them.  And the people of the religion of Jesus are the Muslims, above all religions “until the Day of Resurrection then unto Me will be your (pl.) return” in the Hereafter “and I will decide” meaning and I will judge “between you (pl.)” meaning between the Muslims and the people of the religions “in what you (pl.) were” “in” of religion “differing” and it is Islam.  So a group submitted (became Muslim) and a group disbelieved (became kafir).
