Hadith‎ > ‎Āmālī Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā‎ > ‎Prayer‎ > ‎

Raising the hands in the beginning of the prayer

Muḥammad said: I saw Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā raise his hands in the beginning of the prayer up to below his ears.  He faced them to the qibla, and opened his fingers.

He said: Ismāʿīl b. Isḥāq narrated to me.  He said: I prayed behind Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā and he raised his hands when he opened the prayer.  His palms were in front of his face.  When he wanted to do rukūʿ, he raised his hands similarly to his raising of them in the opening of the prayer.  When he rose his head from the rukuʿ he raised his hands like that with his saying of “samiʿAllāhu li-man ḥamidah” (God has heard the one who praised him).  Then he did takbīr and sujūd, and prayed with us like that until he finished and did taslīm.

He said: Aḥmad b. Ṭāhir al-Riqqī that he saw Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā raising his hands in every raising and lowering similarly to the ḥadīth of Ismāʿīl.

Muḥammad said: It is befitting that his abandonment (of it, mentioned in the next chapter) was due to weakness.
