باب من كان لا يتوضأ مما مست النار

Who did not do wudu from what the fire has touched

وبه قال: حدثنا محمد، قال: حدثني أحمد بن عيسى، عن حسين، عن أبي خالد، عن أبي جعفر، عن آبائه، عن علي -عليه السلام- قال: اعتكف رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم- العشر الأواخر من شهر رمضان، فلما نادى بلال بالمغرب، أتي رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم-، بِكَتِف جزور مشويّة، فأمر بلالاً، فكف هنيهة، فأكل -عليه السلام- وأكلنا، ثم دعا بلبن إبل قد مُذِقَ له، قال محمد: يعني خلط بماء فشرب وشربنا، ثم دعا بماء فغسل يده من غَمَر اللحم، ثم مضمض فاه، ثم تقدم فصلى بنا ولم يحدث طهوراً.

Ahmad b. `Isa narrated to me from Husayn from Abu Khalid from Abu Ja`far from his fathers from `Ali عليه السلام.  He said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم did i`tikaf (a retreat in the mosque) for the last ten days of the month of Ramadan.  So when Bilal called for the maghrib, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم (was?) brought a grilled shoulder of slaughtered camel.  So he commanded Bilal and refrained for a little while, then he عليه السلام ate and we ate.  Then he called for camel milk which had been diluted for him – Muhammad said: meaning mixed with water – then he called for water and he washed his hand from the ghamir of the meat (the smell and grease adhering to the hand after eating flesh meat), then he rinsed his mouth, then he advanced and prayed with us, and he did not renew a purification (i.e. did not do a new wudu).

وبه قال محمد: سمعت قاسم بن إبراهيم، أو ثبت لي عنه في الوضوء من لحم الجزور، وما مسّت النار يتوضأ منه ليس لنجاسته، ولكن لتشاغل الآكل به عن طهارته.

I heard Qasim b. Ibrahim – or it was established for me from him – regarding wudu from the meat of the slaughtered camel, and what the fire has touched, that one does wudu from it not due to its najasa, rather due to the engagement of its eater by it from his tahara.

قال محمد: لا وضوء مما مست النار، ومن أكل وهو على طهر، فلا يضره، ويصلي بذلك الطَّهور، ولا يتوضأمنه.

Muhammad said: There is no wudu from what the fire has touched, and someone who eats while he is upon tahara then it does not harm him.  And he prays with that purification and does not do wudu from it.
