Chapter 15

When the menstruating woman becomes pure in the afternoon before sunset, what she is to pray

1 – al-Kulayni narrated from Muhammad b. Yahya from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Ibn Mahbub from al-Fadl b. Yunus from Abu ‘l-Hasan al-Awwal عليه السلام in a hadith wherein he said: The woman who sees purity before the setting of the sun, how does she act with the salat?  He said: When she saw purity after four feet pass from the declension (zawal) of the sun she only prays `asr, for the time of zhuhr had entered upon her while she was in blood, and the time went out from her while she was in blood.  So it is not obligatory upon her to pray zhuhr, what Allah had discarded from her of the salat while she was in blood is more.

He said: And when the woman has seen blood after four feet have passed from the declension of the sun she is to refrain from the salat.  So when she has become pure from the blood she is to do qada of the salat of zhuhr, for the time of zhuhr had entered upon her while she was pure, and the time of zhuhr had exited from her while she was pure.  So she had lost the salat of zhuhr and its qada is obligatory upon her.
