باب فرض العلم ووجوب طلبه والحث عليه


Chapter on the imperative of knowledge and the obligatoriness of seeking it and urging it


2 - محمد بن يحيى، عن محمد بن الحسين، عن محمد بن عبدالله، عن عيسى بن عبدالله العمري، عن أبي عبدالله (عليه السلامقالطلب العلم فريضة.


2 – Muhammad b. Yahya from Muhammad b. al-Husayn from Muhammad b. `Abdullah al-`Amri from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.  He said: The seeking of knowledge is an obligation.


8 - محمد بن إسماعيل، عن الفضل بن شاذان، عن ابن أبي عمير، عن جميل بن دراج، عن أبان بن تغلب، عن أبي عبدالله (عليه السلامقاللوددت أن أصحابي ضربت رؤوسهم بالسياط حتى يتفقهوا.


8 – Muhammad b. Isma`il from al-Fadl b. Shadhan from Ibn Abi `Umayr from Jamil b. Darraj from Aban b. Taghlab from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام.  He said: I would like to strike the heads of my companions with lashes in order for them to apply themselves to learning (yatafaqqahu).
