134- القول في خلق الجنة و النار :

 

134 – Doctrine regarding the creation of the Garden and the Fire

 

و أقول إن الجنة و النار في هذا الوقت مخلوقتان و بذلك جاءت الأخبار و عليه إجماع أهل الشرع و الآثار و قد خالف في هذا القول المعتزلة و الخوارج و طائفة من الزيدية فزعم أكثر من سميناه أن ما ذكرناه من خلقهما من قسم الجائز دون الواجب و وقفوا في الوارد به من الآثار و قال من بقي منهم بإحالة خلقهما.

و اختلفوا في الاعتلال فقال أبو هاشم بن الجبائي إن ذلك محال لأنه لا بد من فناء العالم قبل نشره و فناء بعض الأجسام فناء لسائرها و قد انعقد الإجماع على أن الله تعالى لا يفني الجنة و النار و قال الآخرون و هم المتقدمون لأبي هاشم خلقهما في هذا الوقت عبث لا معنى له و الله تعالى لا يعبث في فعله و لا يقع منه الفساد .

 

I say that the Garden and the Fire are in this time created.  The reports have come with that and the consensus of the people of laws and traditions is upon it.  The Mu`tazila, the Khawarij, and a sect from the Zaydiyya have opposed this and most of whom we have named claim that what we have mentioned of their creation is from the lot of the possible apart from the necessary, and they have hesitated in what is mentioned of it in the traditions.  And the rest of them profess the impossibility of their creation.

They have differed regarding its weakness.  Abu Hashim b. al-Juba’i said that that is impossible because there is not escape from the annihilation of the world prior to its resurrection, and the annihilation of some of the bodies is the annihilation of the rest (or: all) of them, while the consensus has convened that Allah تعالى will not annihilate the Garden and the Fire.  The others – and they are the ones earlier than Abu Hashim – say that their creation in this time would be a trifling with no meaning for it, while Allah تعالى does not trifle in His act and corruption does not occur from Him.
