Chapter 60

Salat of the eclipse

When the sun and the moon are eclipsed, or the Earth shakes (i.e. an earthquake), or the yellow, black or red wind blows, then pray ten rak`at and four sajda with a single taslima.  And recite in each rak`a of it: al-hamd and what is easy for you from the Quran.  So if you divide the sura in a rak`a, then do not recite al-hamd in the second, and recite the sura from the place which you have reached.  And when you complete the sura in a rak`a, then recite al-hamd in the other (i.e. next) rak`a.

And whoever passes by it (i.e. does not do it), then it is (obligatory) upon him to do its qada, for verily it is from the minor obligations.  And “sami`Allaahu li-man Hamidah” is not said in it except for in the fifth rak`a and the tenth, and one does not do sujud except for in the fifth and the tenth.  And the qunut is in every two rak`a, after the qira’at and prior to the ruku`.

And it is narrated that the qunut in it is in the fifth and the tenth.
